Look Inside Beyonces Comic Book

Now that Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and just about every other chart-topper of the last few decades have found their way into Bluewater Comics' line of unauthorized biography comics, it was only a matter of time before they turned their attention to Sasha Fierce herself, Beyonce Knowles.

Hitting shelves in January 2011, "Fame: Beyonce" promises to "trace Beyonce's rise through the music business, from her early days with Destiny's Child to her booming solo career." The 32-page comic will be written by CW Cooke with art by Alex Lopez.

Bluewater has provided Splash Page readers with the first, exclusive look inside the comic via a seven-page preview.

Official solicit text:

SHE'S ALREADY A STAR, NOW BEYONCE'S A COMIC-BOOK HERO

She¹s already a chart-topper. She¹s married to rap royalty. She¹s an
actress. Now Beyonce will add one more feat to her already impressive
resume: She¹s set to become a comic-book hero.

Bluewater Comics this January will send its latest biography comic, Fame:
Beyonce, to comic-book shops across the country. Readers will also be able
to order the comic directly from online retailers such as Amazon.com and
Barnes and Noble.com.

The comic, written by CW Cooke and featuring pencils by Alex Lopez, will
trace Beyonce¹s rise through the music business, from her early days with
Destiny¹s Child to her booming solo career.

The 32-page comic will retail for $3.99. To make sure you get your copy,
contact your local comic book store to pre-order it. To find a comic book
store near you go to www.comicshoplocator.com. The comic will also be on
Amazon here: http://amzn.to/9XFRwo

According to writer CW Cooke, for a person seemingly always in the public
eye, Beyonce has led a relatively private life. Even the most avid Beyonce
fan, then, will learn something new when reading Fame: Beyonce, Cooke said.

³Working on Beyonce was quite an experience,² Cooke said. ³Everybody knows
who she is. And yet, there are so many little things and tidbits of
knowledge that seem to be passed up when people talk about her in the media.

³Getting to dive into her story and piece together her life was exciting,²
Cooke added. ³She¹s accomplished so much in so little time. She¹s had so
many ups and so few downs. Telling her story wasn¹t so much of a roller
coaster, but more of an exciting elevator ride.²

Darren Davis, publisher and founder of Bluewater Productions, said that he
hopes the Beyonce comic will again draw new readers to the world of comics
storytelling.

³Beyonce is such an amazingly charismatic presence,² Davis said. ³She has so
many fans. Hopefully many of them will pick up this comic, enjoy what they
see and go on to become regular comics readers. The comics industry needs
new readers. I hope that Bluewater¹s biography comics can bring them in.²

Bluewater Productions, one of the country¹s leading independent comics

Cop Who Murdered Oscar Grant Gets Two Years; Sentencing Draws Outrage

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) officer who shot Oscar Grant to death was sentenced to two years in state prison today (November 5th).

Los Angeles Judge Robert Perry sentenced Johannes Mehserle to two years for involuntary manslaughter, the shortest term allowed by law. He also threw out a gun charge against Mehserle today, due to lack of evidence.

During a trial in July, Mehserle claimed he accidentally killed Grant in January 1st, 2009, when accidentally shot the 22-year-old in the back at Fruitvale Station, by using his service revolver, instead of his taser.

Grant's murder was taped by several witnesses, who used the camera's on their cellphones to capture the horrific shooting, which occurred while Grant was handcuffed and face down on the train station's platform.

During the sentencing hearing today, Grant's family members left the court house in anger and tears, including Sophina Mesa, the mother of Grant's 6-year-old daughter.

According to reports, the U.S. Justice Department, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI are planning to continue investigating the shooting, to determine if the evidence in the case warrants federal prosecution.

"We livin in a country where u kill a cop u get 4EVER," Oakland rapper Mistah Fab tweeted moments after the verdict. "A Cop kill u he get 2yrs wit probation This is Justice huh?… It's unfortunate that N this day n age we still subdued to the injustices that our people fought and died for as if they deaths are in vain."

With time served, Mehserle will spend one year, two months and thirteen days behind bars for killing Oscar Grant.

"Today we had a gross miscarriage of justice.. Judge Robert Perry threw out the gun enhancement clause.. (10yrs) and then gave Johannes Mehserle 2yrs with credit for 146 days with time served," Davey D. wrote on his popular blog, DaveyD.com.

"Football star Plaxico Burris did more time shooting himself than Mehserle," Davey D. said. "Michael Vick did more time than Mehserle…shame on Mehserle. The judge and any police officer who sat back and allowed this to take place without speaking out…today was not a good day..It makes you wonder if there even is a such thing as JUSTICE.. Maybe it doesn’t exist. maybe we been hoodwinked and bamboozled."
